Update 6/24/20
New Outdoor Visitation Guidelines
Per Governor Polis’s direction, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment released directives for outside visits with loved ones for people living in long-term care communities such as assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing. The directives require new operational protocols, which we are in the process of developing. In addition, team member training must take place before outside visits can be scheduled. We will provide an update on The Retreat at Sunny Vista ability to host these visits as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience.
Interacting with loved ones during COVID-19 at Sunny Vista

As we all navigate through COVID-19 and the struggles we face in seeing family members, we are constantly working to ensure our residents get to safely interact with family as much as possible.
We are happy to have made another step in bringing family's closer together by offering face to face visits with Plexiglas safely blocking the chance of passing germs!
Interacting with your loved ones at Sunny Vista, A Life Plan Community has become even more special during our lovely summer weather!

COVID Status Update
6/4/2020
Health and Happiness
While many states are in various stages of reopening, government restrictions have not changed for senior living communities. We are still under restrictive CDC status. However, CLC-Cappella has formed a Health and Happiness Committee to reevaluate our current procedures in order to strike a balance between the crucial need to maintain physical health with mental health leading to happiness.
We want to share some of the ways The Retreat at Sunny Vista is responding currently. Please note that these measures are subject to change at any time in response to developments in county, state, or federal policy and the health conditions in our area. Here are some of the measures available at this time, please contact us with questions or for complete details.

Driving and Isolation Protocols
14-day self-isolation will no longer be required for medically essential visits. Transportation provided by the community. We will work with residents on a case-by-case basis to determine protocols for non-staff drivers to essential appointments.
Excursions
We are currently scheduling excursions on Sunday mornings. We can take up to 4 residents at a time on a sightseeing drive.

Good News
6/2/2020
We are excited to share some good news. As many states are moving from “Stay at Home” to “Safer at Home” restrictions, Christian Living Communities-Cappella’s leadership team has been working to distill directives and evaluate procedures in order to strike a balance between the crucial need to maintain the physical health of residents with mental health that leads to happiness.
We have developed new procedures pertaining to in-person visits via a plexiglass divider, self-isolation after essential appointments, residents who are able, to drive themselves to essential appointments, and excursions, which vary by community based on virus activity within the community, state regulations, and level of care.
In all levels of living, state directives supersede new procedures. Information on what we are preparing for residents and families were shared at our May 28th Family Town Hall Webinar which you can view here. https://vimeo.com/424042588/f4ae2a94cb
This is an unprecedented time, and every decision we make is with the health and happiness of residents, families, and team members in mind. We are diligently planning, resourcing materials, and training staff on the new operational procedures.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as it will take some time to implement these new guidelines. Please contact us with any questions.
While we are overjoyed that residents can enjoy greater freedoms and in-person family visits, we are still facing a virus that disproportionally affects older adults. We ask that everyone continue to do all they can to stay healthy and be mindful of the risk of exposure to this virus. Residents must stay well for our community to be well.
Thank you for your continued support as we celebrate residents and families as they make new memories!

Covid-19 Update
4/8/2020
We are happy to update this status and let you know that we have no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at The Retreat at Sunny Vista. Also, the State of Colorado has issued new directives requiring team members who work with residents to wear surgical N95 masks out of an abundance of caution. Team members that do not provide direct resident care are asked to wear cloth masks. The team continues extensive virus prevention protocols to help keep EVERYONE who lives and works at The Retreat at Sunny Vista safe and well. For the most up-to-date information, please refer to this website and our Facebook page.
While some services in our city and state will re-open next week, The Retreat at Sunny Vista will maintain restricted visitor access and will continue to monitor temperatures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as per guidelines from the CDC. Governor Polis’ Safer at Home Order stipulates that older adults must continue to remain at home, and that community restrictions and protocols stay in place. As an example, if a resident leaves for a hair appointment, they will still need to go on 14-day self-isolation in their apartment or suite even though some hair salons are open with a modified schedule.
We also continue to ask team members to use social distancing and shelter-at-home measures when not at work. Though it is challenging, especially when the rest of the city is loosening restrictions, these steps are intended to ensure the health and safety of everyone who lives and works at our community.
We are grateful for all of you and appreciate your proactive support and efforts during this period.

Updated Status for Colorado Assisted Living, Memory Support Communities
3/15/2020
We continue to work closely with state and local officials to balance resident safety, team member safety, and access for families and healthcare partners during heightened COVID-19 concerns. While no cases have been identified in Sunny Vista, we are now implementing new CMS and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment directives to restrict access to our assisted living, and memory support neighborhoods. This means that no visitors will be allowed within the assisted living, memory support neighborhoods at this time unless they are part of the required care team for an individual resident. Compassion visits may be accommodated for loved ones of a resident who is actively in an end of life situation. Such visitors will be screened and their temperatures taken before entering the community.

Coronavirus Preparedness at The Retreat at Sunny Vista
3/6/2020
News of the first fatalities in the US from coronavirus in a Washington State skilled nursing community is understandably causing concern. We care about the wellbeing of residents and team members in The Retreat at Sunny Vista and want to keep you informed on all we are doing to mitigate the impact this virus has on residents and team members.
Our clinical team created and implemented policies and procedures specific to coronavirus based on our very effective Norovirus protocol. We regularly schedule briefings with applicable personnel in the community and we are continuing to monitor information from the CDC and will provide updates as warranted. We are requiring team members who are sick to stay home and ask family members to do the same. We encourage everyone to practice prevention such as frequent hand washing, covering when you cough, not touching your eyes, mouth and nose, and avoiding people who show symptoms. We want residents in the community to continue to enjoy community life and receive compassionate care.
You can read more about our Coronavirus preparedness on the Christian Living Communities website.
We are here to help and answer your questions – please feel to contact us.
